the perfect body~

Despite the recession, plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular in Britain.

The rise in people willing to go under the knife could be partly down to the promotion of unachievable body images by the advertising industry.

British TV presenter Anna Richardson told the BBC her experience of cosmetic surgery was ‘traumatic’.

She said she tried ‘lunchtime lipo’ to get rid of her bingo wings – but that it went wrong because the anaesthetic didn’t work properly.

Of course not everyone feels under pressure to conform to a particular look.

British artist Alison Lapper was born without any limbs and says she is happy with her appearance.

She said; “You can say either I don’t have to have these pressures because I don’t want to be like this anyway, or you’re going to be very miserable and longing for something that’s not achievable”.

She also said there should be more diversity of bodies used in media images – including disabilities, race and gender:

She said we should embrace different body types and celebrate our differences.

In your view, is there such a thing as a perfect body? Would you consider plastic surgery to change your body
